Notes from Monthly Meeting for Business 2/24/07
Ways and Means reported the success of the recent creamed cod fish supper due, as usual, to the fact that fisherman Herbert Smith’s boat crew donated part of their fish catch to Allen’s Neck. The next supper (Roast Pork) will be held on February 11.
Meeting approved of displaying a plaque in Fellowship Hall in honor of Betty Amaral who served as custodian for forty years.
Peace and social Concerns reported that forty flannel shirts and a supply of socks were donated to Market Ministries in New Bedford.
Peter Crysdale reported that a Quaker Studies program with a pot luck supper afterwards, will be held at Westport Meeting on Saturday, February 10. Debbie Humphries will be the leader. Other workshops will be held in March and April. Friends General Conference will hold a workshop this summer in Wisconsin. It is hoped that some one from Allen’s Neck will attend.
Meeting approved sending $200 to the Lee Shipley Art Scholarship Fund in memory of Lee, daughter of Will and Virginia Morrison.
The Library Committee reported that the library has a supply of photographs of people whose identity is unknown. These photographs will be on display after Meeting for Worship in the hopes that some of us can identify them.
Meeting approved of $180 for Christian Ed Committee to send two people to a workshop lead by Jean McCandless at the Worcester Meeting. Meeting also approved of hiring Diana Mendes as our new custodian, taking the place of Betty Amaral.
Sharon Wypych is preparing the Annual Directory and needs to know now if there are any corrections, additions/subtractions for this year’s Directory, due out in March.
