ICC Board of Delegates Meeting

Inter-Church Council Board of Delegates Meeting January 11, 2007

The ICC Chaplaincy includes visiting chaplains (Cindy Tardif) to Tobey and St. Luke’s Hospitals.

Police Chaplains

Every night there are designated NB pastors on call from 6 PM to 6 AM. This report indicated that when there is a disturbance, it is a calming effect when a minister arrives on the scene. The night of the Foxy Lady incident, at 2 AM there were two pastors present, by 4 AM there were nine chaplains providing comfort and counseling. This chaplaincy includes a ride-along program in which a minister rides along in the patrol car at night.

Healthy Choices

Ministers enter the schools with this curriculum designed to stimulate conversations with the children concerning topics about family situations and playground problems. The pastors conduct role playing examples which give the children a chance to act out troublesome happenings at home or at school: “How would a bully respond? What would the victim say or do?”

These are just two of the programs provided by the ICC for the New Bedford area.
