Monthly Meeting, June 2007

Ways and Means Committee reported that the Flea Market will be discontinued unless new organizers step forward. Ministry and Counsel will meet at 11 AM instead of 6 PM on the Sunday before Monthly Meeting. See Pam Humphrey if interested in sitting on the Facing Bench on a Sunday in July. The "Writing for the Soul" group which meets every Friday at 6:30 pm will be in charge of the July 1st Sunday Worship service. Carol Munger reported that Quarterly Ministry & Counsel adivises those attending Yearly Meeting to be aware that the Friends United Meeting policy of prohibiting their employees from having any relationship outside of a traditional marriage will be a point of discussion. Those attending who may wish to participate in this conversation need to make it clear if they are offering their personal opinion or they represent the position of their own meeting. It was also suggested that Meetings in Sandwich Quarter discuss this issue, though difficult, as a way of coming to terms with this sensitive subject. Sandwich Quarterly Meeting will be held on Saturday, July 28th at 3:00 pm at Allen's Neck. After worship and the business meeting, Allen's Neck will provide a light supper. A program will follow the meal. There will be child care. The Finance Committee presented their well explained and thought out reports: a) Finance Committee-Forecasting Summary of Meeting with focus group. b) Fiscal Forecast-Income c)Breakdown of our funds into 6 major categories for clarity. Buildings & Grounds reported that copies of instructions for use of the kitchen are available (on top of the refirigerator) and should be handed out to any outside group using our kitchen. All members should be aware that the garbage/trash generated during use of the kitchen should be taken with them. The Parsonage Committee reported that they are deciding whether to restore existing windows, or have new windows installed. Clambake Committee was well served by the Late Bev Glennon; a new convenor needs to be appointed. Raymond Davoll and Burney Gifford will be working out any problems with this year's Clam Bake due to changes in certain procedures. Charlotte Murphy has the catalogue with items that could be sold at Clam Bake. Any one is welcome to peruse the catalogue and make suggestions.
