Being Prepared

Planning your funeral or that of a recently deceased loved one is never easy. At Monthly Meeting Heather Reed presented us with information from The Funeral Consumers Alliance of Southeastern Massachusetts. This is a nonprofit, nonsectarian, grass-roots organization that was formed by concerned individuals to educate the general public about funeral choices. Informed consumers usually get more for their money and spend a great deal less for a funeral.

It is run solely by volunteers and has no attachment to the funeral industry or any religious group. Its membership is open to all. Also, there are no large corporations or foundations funding the effort of the group; there is no commercial endeavor to provide a ready stream of income. Therefore, the Alliance depends on membership dues and donations for funding.

As a 501 (c) tax-exempt charitable organization, consultation will be provided at no charge, by mail or telephone, to people in need.
