This year in First Day School, we are exploring the four questions: What is God? Where is God? How can I find God? What does God want me to do?
These are questions we have asked in previous years. However, this year we are exploring them through the lens of the Quaker testimonies, with a focus on the testimony of service.
We have been talking about faith and service, and how service is about recognizing and holding up the light that exists within each of us. We have been talking about how God's hands work through our hands. The children have been developing service projects, both individually and in small groups, and we will pursue these projects as a community through out the coming year.
Hannah has initiated the following project, a Clothes Drive. She has developed it with the support and help of the other children, and with the input of Diana Mendes from Peace and Social Concerns.
On Sunday, October 28th, we will be starting a clothes drive for women and children, which will run until Thanksgiving. Donations should be of good quality, used, winter outerwear; such as baby blankets, snowsuits, coats, hats, etc. Donation Boxes will be in the front hall. If you have any questions, please ask Hannah Baker or Dawn Tripp.
