Apponegansett Meetinghouse willhold its annual open house Sunday, July 27 at 3 PM. Edmund Barry Gaither, Director of the National Center of Afro-American Artists, will give a talk on the" Adventurous Paul Cuffe". This presentation follows several days of activities at the historic Quaker Meetinghouse on Russells Mills Road in S. Dartmouth. Thursday, July 24th at 7 PM, thomas Cathcart and Daniel Klien will share insights from their recent book, Aristotle and an Aardvark Go to Washington.Friday the 25th at 7:30 PM Iveria will perform. Iveria is a men's a capella choral group, based in the greater Boston area, devoted to the liturgical and folk music of the Republic of Georgia. Iveria was the name the classical world gave to what is now Eastern Georgia.
Saturday,July 26, the Meetinghouse will be open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Bring a box lunch and enjoy old fashioned children's games on the lawn. At 3:00 a musical workshop will be presented by C. Vonn New, "Listening to the Muses". Ms. New usues acoustic percussion, flutes , voice and other instruments.
Sunday, July 27, the Meetinghouse will be open at 8:30 - 9:30 for unprogrammed Quaker worship. The building will remain open for the rest of the day until after the Paul Cuffe talk.
