Treasurer's Report:Dick Mason included a detailed breakdown of this year's financial numbers for our annual clambake. Ways and Means The first dinner of the year is tentatively scheduled for October 19, at 4 PM. Ministry and Counsel: Several Friends have led meeting for worship in the past few months in Peter's absence. The messages are enriching and appreciated by the Meeting and the practice helps us to remember that none of us holds any more spiritual authority than another. Pastor's Report: Peter accompanied a group of parents and some of the older First Day School children to China Camp and the Common Ground Fair. Sunday they stopped at Durham Meeting for worship. The trip was a great success. There will be adult Quaker education events on October 4 and 25. Peter will be attending a clerking workshop at Pendle Hill on the weekend of November 14. Meeting approved of $370 to cover expenses for Bill Reed to attend the same workshop. Nominating:Meeting approved the nomination of Bill Reed to Clerk of Monthly Meeting, and of Jeanne Bird to Ministry and Counsel, both nominations to take effect in January of 2009. Building and Grounds: Our PERC test was performed and came back with a good result. Christian Education:Meeting approved $100 to pay for a magician to perform at this year's Halloween Party, which will be October 25, 5 - 7 PM. Sandwich Quarterly Meeting:Pam Humphrey, Cindy Tardif and Carol Munger attended the "Transforming Conflict" Workshop at Mattapoisett Meeting, September 20. They reported that the workshop was a worth while experience. Cindy and Carol plan on attending Sandwich Quarterly Meeting Ministry and Counsel on Saturday, September 27, 9:00 AM at Mattapoisett Meeting. Monthly Meeting will be held on Sunday, October 26, 10:30 AM in the Meeting Hall. Education Fund: Jim Munger presented a draft outlining purposes, criteria, and funding for the proposed Sharon Wypych Education Fund. Monthly Meeting will revisit the discussion next month.
