Monthly Meeting for Business 10/26/08
Ways and Means: The dinners for the upcoming year have been scheduled. Pastor: Betty Amaral and Pam Humphrey have been asked to write a Memorial Minute for Emelda Waite. Peter reports the series on Quaker Business Practice has been a great success. He hopes to recruit some of our older young people for a trip to Philadelphia in the spring. Building and Grounds: The committee is looking for a new stove for the kitchen. A battery for the emergency lighting has been purchased but has not been installed. The committee will be meeting on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Christian Education: Halloween party on October 25 was extremely successful and well attended. A meeting of the committee will take place later in the month. Hospitality: Ruth Bournes has replaced Elizabeth Newton on the Committee. Finance: the letter for the annual Fund Drive has been written and will be sent out soon. Library: The committee has been hard at work updating and rearranging the current inventory. The committee plans to create an easy to read map of the library. Further, the committee encourages the library's use and hopes people will borrow books, provided a card is left saying which book was borrowed and who borrowed it. Meeting named Ruth Doran, Burney Gifford , David Johannesen and Jim Munger to a new committee overseeing the creation and administration of an educational fund in Sharon Wypych's memory. Two of our older Young Friends will be asked to attend. Carol Munger reported on the most recent Sandwich Quarterly Meeting. Monthly Meeting approved of appointing Carol as a representative of the Meeting to help mediate a difficult situation in the Quarter.
