Sandwich Quarterly Meeting is a good place to meet other Quakers in our area and learn new ways of resolving issues as each Meeting has different approaches. This past Saturday we gathered at Smith Neck Meeting as it was their turn to host. The business meeting went very smoothly with no controversy. Sometimes they can be very difficult to clerk. We approved travel minutes for Deana Chase and Marion Athearn from Westport Meeting. Both plan to travel outside of New England. The Nominating Committee named Robert Ransbottom (New Bedford Meeting) to replace the two out going co-clerks, Louise Luckenbill and Cindy Tardif. Praise was given that the Cornell Farm (located on Smith Neck Road) of many generations, is now protected by The Trustees of Reservations and will remain a working farm open to the public. All Monthly Meetings were reminded to have their State of Society Minutes brought to the next Quarterly Meeting in April at S. Yarmouth Preparative Meeting. Concerns and announcements were shared by all.
The best part of our Quarterly Meetings is sharing lunch, renewing old friendships and making new ones. After lunch the program was given by Andy Pollock (Allen's Neck Meeting) on Community Supported Agriculture. His Power Point presentation was very informative and questions were asked by many.
If you are interested in learning more about Quakers at large, please come. You will find that business isn't always dull and that all Quakers are unique in many ways.
