The Inter-Church Council of Greater New Bedford has chosen Cynthia S. Tardif , a member of Allen's Neck Quaker Meeting, as the recipient of the 2009 Sydney Adams Award for distinguished service in the ecumenical ministry.
Faithfully serving the Inter-Church Council since she was a teenager, Cindy has been a delegate for her church, a hospital chaplain, parish nurse, part of the transformation team, and this year will become a member of the board of directors.
"Cindy Tardif is one of the most quiet, humble and deserving of the Sydney Adams Award that I have ever been privileged to be a part of", said the Rev. David Lima, executive minister of the Council. "She is not the person you might first think of because she is not one of the leaders - out there publicly in front doing the work. Cindy is what we all want in our churches, a pillar who though many times is hidden, supports the work, but without their strength and commitment, the work wouldn't stand long. She is one of the finest examples of a true Christian servant."
