Parsonage Ramblings

Ah….
Advent the season of hope
Bright star at the darkest time of the year.
Advent is the prayer of expectant waiting
In the shadows when often all seems lost.

Advent...God is about to do a new thing
In our lives---in our world
Called wonderful…
Prince of Peace...Messiah.

In each of us the deep - and a
Small star seed beckoning…
The prayer of Bethlehem
is calling for our birth…

What? You think you were already
Born? There is another one…
We have been preparing for our whole
lives--and resisting…

In our heart of hearts - a stable - a manger
And a child pulsing with birth longings
waiting to be born.
Not then---Now…

The prophet Second Isaiah told us,
“I will do a new thing in you, saith the Lord”
Hundreds of years later Augustine reminded us
That the Bethlehem birth just keeps happening.

Advent calls us to the prayer of going into labour,
That our Christ in us God selves might be born.

So let us puncture the blow up lighted ten foot plastic snow man
In the front yard and stay away from the tinny Christmas music at the Mall.

Advent is prayer time. Wonder is about to be born.
