Monday, March 29 at 6:00 PM Jorge Luis Pena will join us for supper at the Meetinghouse. Jorge, a Cuban Friend, is clerk of his Meeting’s Pastoral Commission (like our Ministry & Counsel), a leader in Cuba Yearly Meeting and a member of the Executive Committee of COAL (Committee of Latin American Friends), which is part of FWCC (Friends World Committee for Consultation). He is also a journalist, poet and teacher. Jorge’s visit is part of NEYM’s Puente de Amigos (Bridge of Friends) and follows his participation in the FWCC Section of the Americas Annual Meeting in March. Many New England Friends know Jorge from their visits to Cuba and others met him when he visited NEYM in April 2008.

Sunday, April 11: Peter Pereira a local photojournalist who spent time in Haiti the weeks before the devastating earthquake will present a slide show of the people of Haiti and discuss his firsthand experience with the close knit group that call Haiti home.
