Moments of Tears and Laughter

Winter Conversations
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon people gathered at the Westport Macomber Community House for the presentation of Haiti seen through the heart and lens of Photojournalist, Peter Pereira. His heartfelt impression of the people he encountered on his visit to Haiti was an eye opener for many of the participants. There were moments of tears and laughter and a true connection to a place most have never physically been to. The lively discussion that followed allowed everyone to understand more detail about these mountainous regions and a living environment that seems to most westerners as impossible to imagine. After the discussion everyone was invited to home made cakes and cookies while gathering copies of One’ Respe’ the magazine with a compilation of photographs of Haiti with funding going to support the American Red Cross, the demonstrations on the making of care kits being forwarded through American Friends Service Committee to Haiti and a multitude of other organizations that are now helping in Haiti.
