Minutes from Monthly Meeting for Business December 12, 2010
Ministry & Counsel: New England Yearly Meeting has sent a revision of the first part of the new Faith and Practice. A copy is in the library for those who wish to review it. Meeting has asked Bill Reed to look into the possibility of bringing Arthur Larrabee to the meeting for a weekend in the future. The committee will again schedule open meetings with members to discuss the direction of the meeting. Parsonage Trustees: Cynthia Tardif addressed the meeting regarding the history and function of the parsonage trustees. The trustees met to discuss the problem of lead in the parsonage. The committee has received a quote for the process of deleading the parsonage. The meeting has entrusted the committee to investigate further and return to the meeting with recommendations. Building and Grounds: The committee has presented the meeting with plans for the renovation of the social hall, to be undertaken upon the possible receipt of a grant from the Dartmouth Preservation Committee. Meeting approved of an appropriation of $12,000 to pay professionals to develop a firm plan to present to the town. Finance: Meeting approved the $750 to spend on the application process to achieve federal non-profit charitable organization process. Meeting agreed to allow the Southcoast Homeschooling Association to meet in the social hall every other Thursday for two hours and for one evening per month for a potluck supper. The Meeting has asked Diana Mendes to address the group regarding a donation for use of the facilities. Meeting approved an $800 donation to Friends Camp in China, ME.

Dick Mason reported that we received 66 donations for our annual fund drive. Finance: Dick Mason submitted a final fiscal report for 2010 as well as a fiscal forecast for 2011. Parsonage Trustees: Cynthia Tardif reported our two bids for deleading the parsonage. Meeting accepted a $6535 bid from Bristol County Lead Removal, with the understanding that the parsonage committee will investigate the possibility of replacing, rather than deleading, the parsonage doors. Ministry and Counsel: Earlier this month, Bradie Metheny began a series of adult discussions. They will continue on the second Sunday after Meeting. Two open meetings will be held on Thursdays, February 17 and 24, from 5 - 7 at the Meetinghouse. All are urged to attend to make their opinions and desires heard. Plans to enhance our singing and visitation of the elderly and ill are underway. Nominating: Meeting approved the annual nominating committee report as submitted by Burney Gifford.
Stan Stopka has removed both old electric stoves from the cook house at the clambake grounds. He has replaced one stove, and we currently seek a replacement for the other before the annual clambake.
