Hannah and Frances present their report on George Fox to the Meeting |

Letter from At the beginning of July, Burne gave a presentation to the children on local Quaker history, and talked about what it was like to be a child in Quaker Meeting in the 18th and 19th centuries. For the past three weeks, Bob H and Darrin and Diana M have led a kite-making workshop. We have been reading stories that explore kites as metaphors for spirit, freedom, and the resolution of conflict. The children have designed and decorated their own kites. In August, we will continue the First Day School summer program oriented toward more outdoor activities. We are thrilled with the level of consistent attendance so far during these summer months. If there is anyone who would like to volunteer to assist or lead a class, please feel free to let us know. We have begun to sketch out the curriculum for the fall semester. We would like to introduce the children to bible stories from a Quaker perspective, and we have been collecting books and resources for that purpose. We would really appreciate any input from members or attendees of the Meeting. |
