Notes from Monthly Meeting for Business, 5/25/05

Ministry and Counsel recommended rehiring Peter for another year.  Meeting approved. Katie, a graduate of Atlantic School of Theology will be visiting Allen’s Neck in June.  Arrangements are being made to see that she meets as many Allen’s Neck members and attenders as possible.  The Library Committee requested $75.00 to extend Technical Support for their computer program. Monthly Meeting approved the request. Building and Grounds has installed two new display racks in the vestibule.  The committee has also discussed the problem of limited parking space.  Peter will be talking to small groups about shifts he would like to make this year. We need conversations between people of different viewpoints. Civil discussions will help the Meeting grow.  Allen’s Neck Meeting will be hosting the Inter-church Council’s annual dinner meeting starting with appetizers at 5 PM, June 16th. Carol needs strong backs to set up tables before 4:30 PM and to put them away after the meeting.  Carol also needs 2 or 3 people to make the appetizers and one person to see that cars are parked in an orderly fashion.  Peter will bless the meeting and talk briefly on the Quaker Religion.

Welcome

Please help us to welcome Katie, who will be coming to Allen’s Neck from June 7th until June 27th.  Katie, a recent graduate with a Master’s degree of Divinity from the Atlantic School of Theology in Halifax, will be coming to participate in all aspects of our Meeting and will work with Peter during her stay.  Katie hopes to visit many families from our Meeting community and get an understanding of what it is like to be a pastor in a small rural meeting.

We will be circulating a signup sheet for families to meet and bring Katie into their homes for a social dinner. Please participate if you can. The Meeting is providing Katie with a small stipend to help with her 3 week stay at the Meeting.   Katie is a member of Wolfville MM and attends Meeting in Halifax where she and her husband have lived for 3 years while she was in school.
